The 2020 NFL schedule is out, laying out all 16 games for each of the 32 teams. The Week 1 slate is filled with intriguing matchups, ones that also offer some promising wagers on the Over/Under. Here are four of the best total bets to make for Week 1 of the 2020 NFL season.

The 2020 NFL schedule is now common knowledge. Experts everywhere are prognosticating everything imaginable, from who will win Super Bowl 55 to the 2020 NFL MVP race.

There is so much to bet on, but with the schedule out, shouldn’t our main focus be the actual games?

That’s assuming the NFL season ever plays out in 2020. There is growing optimism that it will, of course, which naturally should put extra focus on that first week of contests.

I’ve already handed out my early week 1 NFL betting picks, but I also noted that some games may be better to wager on than others.

Here’s a specific look at which games sports bettors may want to bet on in week 1 and what the best bets may be.

It’s the first game of the 2020 NFL season, so you’re going to be watching already. You might as well bet on it, too.

This game also features the defending Super Bowl champs, a rematch of a wild AFC playoff game from a year ago, and a duel between Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson.

Color me intrigued. But for a bettor, this is also a goldmine. Not only are the capable Texans 9.5-point underdogs, but this game sports a pretty palatable total (54 at BetNow.eu).

You can consider the Texans to beat the spread, but the real play is the Over. Throw on a pile of fun NFL player prop bets, and this year’s NFL Kickoff game is unlikely to disappoint.

The Eagles open the 2020 season in DC against a hated rival. The Redskins got a mini-makeover with the arrival of head coach Ron Rivera but are still led by an unproven quarterback in Dwayne Haskins.

Some feel like Rivera’s presence will make the Redskins nasty on defense, but the odds are it will take some time. This is a series Philly has dominated, as they’ve won six in a row and probably won’t stop anytime soon.

Despite all of this, the Eagles open as mild 6-point favorites. Washington is at home, but they were just 6-10 against the spread in 2019 and have beaten this spread in this matchup just once in the last six meetings.

The play is obviously Philly to cover, especially if you can find a better spread than -6 over at BetOnline.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New Orleans Saints

If you’re wondering which 2020 NFL games will be instant classics, look no further. Tom Brady’s Buccaneers career gets started in style, as he leads the troops to New Orleans to battle the Saints.

These Bucs vs. Saints matchups have not disappointed in the past, and adding Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski to the mix will only make things more interesting.

“Tompa Brady” opens 2020 as 4-point underdogs, which is totally reasonable because the Saints are at home and quite good. However, Brady’s Patriots were rarely underdogs and routinely coasted to 10+ win seasons.

Brady inherits a fantastic offensive system with perhaps the best supporting cast he’s ever seen. That makes the Buccaneers attractive at +4 and as a straight-up underdog, but these two offenses also make this one of the most explosive games on the table in week 1.

The weird part? The top football betting sites have not yet given in to this game’s upside, with BetNow.eu setting the total at 49.5. There are three viable wagers here (Over at -115 taking the lead), and this could be the game of the week to kick off 2020.

While it won’t carry the hype of Buccaneers vs. Saints, this tense NFC North clash does potentially tell us a lot about the Packers and Vikings

It also has Aaron Rodgers and a Green Bay squad that reached the NFC title game a year ago, with Dalvin Cook and Adam Thielen on the other side.

Despite sweeping the season series last year, the Packers enter week 1 as 3.5-point underdogs at BetNow. Green Bay obviously has the upper hand in this matchup right now, while the Packers were also 11-7 against the spread in 2019.

Best Bet Against The Spread

Both teams could be due for a little regression, but it feels like the Packers are being disrespected in a huge divisional clash. Green Bay ATS or as a straight-up dog look pretty appealing, while a palatable 46.5 total is worth a look, too.

Dallas Cowboys @ Los Angeles Rams

Here’s another game that isn’t getting the love it probably deserves and also may be a good source of earnings for sports bettors.

The Rams play host to Dallas in week 1, as the Cowboys usher in the Mike McCarthy era. Both teams have good coaching and stacked rosters, yet LA is a mild 2.5-point underdog.

Los Angeles regressed the year following a Super Bowl appearance, but they were still a solid 9-7 team. Dallas wrecked them in Texas last year, but it still feels weird that the Rams are underdogs at home when they were 10-5 ATS and 5-3 at home in 2019.

That, and Dallas went 8-8, couldn’t win on the road, and had a really tough time beating quality opponents last year.

Which side of the fence you fall on isn’t important yet, but this is a tight spread, and I can see it being argued either way. The total is more attractive, though, with BetNow setting things up nicely at 49 (-115/-105).
